Welcome to the Widdershinsdance community

Here you will find inspiring information about this magical activity.

Widdershinsdance is a very joyful tool for your gatherings.  Basically it is the practice of recurring movements, fitting to a theme. This can be a celebration, opening of the circle, growth, fun, elemental balance. But it is so much more than that. One simple dance can already deepen your awareness.

My name is Elvira van Bochove. Like you, I am stardust. Ever since I can remember, nature – especially the ocean and rivers- send me messages of our oneness. I work as a visual artist and have been a widdershinsdance instructor for two and a half decades, to translate these messages into art, and to navigate the energy through it.

About the name: The word WIDDERSHINS means ‘counter-clockwise’,  but also ‘going in a direction other than the usual’. Which feels quit fitting to my ever ongoing path of connecting movement, nature and visualization. So I named it Widdershinsdance.

There is not too much complicated hocus pocus involved. However, if you want your circlepatterns to become vibrant weavings it will require some practical dedication and an imaginative nature.

Over the years I dreamt up many moves for my amazing tribe Deosil Scylla, for all sorts of rituals and celebrations. They generated so much joy and made us more aware of our bond with nature and each other. And for sure, the more we practice, the easier it gets to tune in to the sacred web.

Many women danced with us (and occasionaly some men). Whenever we visited a festival and shared our dance, there were always people asking: “Where can we practice in our own area?” or  “How can we implement this in our circle meetings?”

If you want you can get access to clear instructions on various dances. You can enjoy these with your own circle.
